PUBLIC Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that an access road was recently paved to connect local communities known for its coconut-based livelihood in Sugbongcogon, Misamis Oriental.
“Our coconut farmers from Barangay Silad and Barangay Mangga are now reaping the benefits of a newly-improved access road for the two (2) barangays of Northern Mindanao known for its coco industry, copra drying, and oil milling facilities”, Secretary Villar said.
Once a rough and bumpy travel, DPWH turned a 668 meter access road into a concrete paved road with carriageway width of 6.70 meters and a 1.50-meter shoulder complete with canal and installation of cross drain.
Regional Office 10 Director Zenaida Tan said that the improvement of access road received an allocation of P15-million.
More than providing better access, the improvement of road also opens more development opportunities to the town Sugbongcogon, regarded as the cleanest and greenest Municipality of Misamis Oriental.
